After a bout of laryngitis that left me unable to participate in communal singing or public reading, I was referred to Karen Sussman by my ENT. And I am so grateful that I was! In less than two months I have regained more use of my voice than I had ever expected. Karen’s techniques are so effective and their ease of use leaves no excuse for not practicing! I am grateful to have found this skilled and caring therapist.
Karen Sussman, Professional Voice Care Center is THE BEST. I started studying with Karen in 1994 and had lessons once a week for years. She improved my voice. People think that all you do is open your mouth and sing. I learned not only how to correctly warm up my voice, but what to eat or drink before any performance. You are technically an athlete and your vocal chords must be warmed up properly. So thank you Karen for all that you have taught me to get me through performances.
Karen Sussman is a wonderful, kind, and motivating vocal instructor. She is most concerned with keeping every student singing in the correct and healthy way. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to sing with beautiful and healthy tone.
I went to Karen Sussman last February because I had a polyp on my vocal cords . Within 10 sessions of her training and my practice the polyp totally shrunk. She was professional, caring , & a lot of fun( as an aside). I recently had to return because my voice became very raspy again and my visit to the ENT showed the polyp returned. My fault… Stopped her exercises. After 6 new sessions, miraculously the polyp shrunk, voice is clear … And will continue her exercises because THEY WORK. Highly recommend Karen.
I am a professional singer who had some trouble with my voice’s stamina and reliability after menopause. Karen’s attention to vocal hygiene, and novel array of easy, gentle exercises gradually shifted my voice to a healthier place and has brought it completely back on line. She not only saved my career, but got me another few notes on top reliably too! Karen is a delightful, compassionate person, keeps up with the latest new techniques and insights, knows her subject, and makes sessions fun.
Karen Sussman is a wonderful Professional. If you have a voice problem, she is the one to see. She will teach you about your voice, give you the tools to help treat your problems, and is passionate about what she does. Did I say that she makes it fun? She helped me so much. She is GREAT!
Karen creates a comfortable and fun environment. My 11 year old daughter enjoys her voice therapy lessons with Karen and actually looks forward to going to the sessions. We have noticed a marked improvement in the quality of my daughter’s voice since starting. Karen makes the exercises fun and…more
Some voice therapists are neither familiar with spasmodic dysphonia nor how to treat a patient so afflicted. There is no known cure. In the medical community, the treatment of choice is botox injections directly into the vocal cords. Karen Sussman, a voice therapist with working knowledge of the condition, provided me with vocal and breathing exercises extending the benefits of botox. I no longer feel isolated in group discussions or in noisy venues. Professional and fun to work with.
Karen has been so helpful in my journey to regain both my speaking and singing voice after sustaining a vocal cord injury. I’m ecstatic with the progress I’ve made since working with Karen over this past year. Karen has a bubbly and upbeat easygoing personality which makes for a comfortable environment. She has provided me with strategies to use at home as well as at work to help protect my speaking and singing voice. Karen is extremely knowledgeable about her area of expertise in the field of speech pathology. She is passionate about helping her clients make progress and improve their quality of life.
I very highly recommend Karen Sussman as a speech therapist and as a voice teacher! She was the second therapist I saw for my vocal nodules and if the therapy did not work I was going to consider surgery or even a career change. I am a music teacher and I use my voice all day long for both speaking and singing. Not only is Karen Sussman a wonderful speech therapist, but she is also a professional singer and voice teacher. She helped me learn techniques and exercises to be a better speaker and singer. I will be forever grateful to Karen for helping me save my voice and my career.
